2024 Philippine Holidays


Malacañang  Palace released the list of National Regular and Special (Non-Working) Holidays for next year. President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. signed Proclamation No. 368 which identified national regular holidays and the special non-working holidays for 2024.

       REGULAR HOLIDAYS IN THE PHILIPPINES 2024

§ January 1 (Monday) - New Year’s Day

§  March 28 (Thursday) -  Maundy Thursday

§  March 29 (Friday)  - Good Friday

§  April 9 (Tuesday) - Araw ng Kagitingan

§  May 1 (Wednesday) -  Labor Day

§  June 12 (Wednesday)  - Independence Day

§  August 26 (Monday) - National Heroes Day (Last Monday of August)

§  November 30 (Saturday) - Bonifacio Day

§  December 25 (Wednesday) - Christmas Day

§  December 30 (Monday)  - Rizal Day

       SPECIAL NON-WORKING HOLIDAYS IN THE PHILIPPINES 2024

§  August 21 (Wednesday) - Ninoy Aquino Day

§  November 1 (Friday) - All Saints’ Day

§  December 8 (Sunday) - Feast of the Immaculate Conception of Mary

§  December 31 (Tuesday) - Last Day of the Year

        ADDITIONAL SPECIAL NON-WORKING HOLIDAYS IN THE PHILIPPINES 2024

§  February 10 (Saturday) - Chinese New Year

§  March 30 (Saturday)  - Black Saturday

§  November 2 (Saturday) - All Souls’ Day

§  December 24 (Tuesday) - Christmas Eve

The anniversary of the EDSA People Power Revolution which toppled the presidency of Marcos' father has not been included in the list of holidays as it falls on a Sunday. However, the feast of the Immaculate Conception of Mary on December 8 that also falls on a Sunday has been included in the list of 2024 holidays this year.

The issuance of national holidays due to Islamic holidays such as the observance of Eid’l Fitr and Eid’l Adha shall be issued after the approximate days determined by the Islamic calendar (Hjira) or the lunar calendar, or upon Islamic astronomical calculations, whichever is possible or possible. The President will issue proclamation in observance of these holidays.

       ADDITIONAL HOLIDAYS IN THE PHILIPPINES 2024

§  April 10 (Wednesday) – Eid al-Fitr or the end of the month of Ramadan

§  June 17 (Monday) – Eid al-Adha or the Feast of Sacrifice

The proclamation then gives a lists of 10 regular holidays and 8 special non-working holidays for 2024. It is also good news for travel junkie like me that some fall on a Monday or a Friday which also give the chance to enjoy several long weekends in the Philippines.

LONG WEEKEND HOLIDAYS IN THE PHILIPPINES 2024

§  December 30 – January 1 (Saturday to Monday) – New Year

§  March 28 – 31 (Thursday to Sunday) – Holy Week

§  August 24 – 26 (Saturday to Monday) – National Heroes Day

§  November 1 – 3 (Friday to Sunday) – All Saints/Souls Day

§  If you take a leave from work on April 8 (Monday), you could enjoy an additional long weekend from April 6 – 9 (Saturday to Tuesday) – Araw ng Kagitingan

§  Additional long weekend if Eid al-Adha or the Feast of Sacrifice holiday fall on June 17 (Monday)
