The Department of Tourism (DOT) declares 2015 as “Visit
the Philippines Year," a more reason to have more fun in the Philippines under this year's campaign banner with five themes, namely: business meetings; history and
culture; lifestyle and entertainment; music and the arts; sports,
adventure, and eco-tourism. A campaign that will sustain the DOT campaign (It’s More Fun in the
Philippines campaign) and heighten the opportunity in 2015 to be visited by both foreign and local tourists.
As part of gearing up along with the release of the slogan, is the launch of a microsite (http://phl2015. itsmorefuninthephilippines. com/) that serves as a directory of the slated events in the country. It can be found under the recently improved DOT website (http:// itsmorefuninthephilippines. com/).
The Secretary also encouraged the businesses, communities, and locals
to play an active part in spreading and amplifying our messages,
enticing would-be visitors to come visit our shores in order to sustain the campaign.
Meanwhile, series of events set to unfold next year,
catering to both foreign and local tourists are the following: (a) Business - Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) ministerial Meetings and Leaders' Summit; (b) History and culture - Pope
Francis’ visitation; (c) Lifestyle and entertainment. Philippines is set to host the
biggest culinary event in the world, the Madrid Fusion Manila in April
2015; (d) Music and the arts - One Direction
and Justin Timberlake are scheduled in March 2015; (e) Sports, adventure and eco-tourism. International sporting events
such as triathlons, martial arts, eco-marathons, yacht races, beach
volleyball tournaments, and tennis exhibition matches. Events like the
Siargao International Surfing competition and Philippine International
Dive Show will be one of the highlights.
