The Grand Octagon Hotel.

            I was trying to check a hotel or resort that would satisfy my comfortableness and accessibility to visit the most extravagant city in the northern tip of the Philippines and that’s Laoag City – popularly known as the “Sunshine City of the Philippines” dubbed in the dialect “Laoag” which means “light or clarity” in an  innate beginning of the place.

            After searching into tourism brochures, pamphlets, travel blogs and website I was stunned with the Grand Octagon Hotel and Resort dubbed as the "traveler's paradise a haven" which is approximately 5 minutes away from Laoag City and 7 minutes away from the newly Robinsons Mall located at San Nicolas, Ilocos Norte and 10 minutes away from the Laoag International Airport.

            The location of the place was right along Laoag International Airport Avenue and in front of Laoag General Hospital. The place was extraordinary it has an old wooden gate with a miniature bamboo as its fence and an entrance about 7 meters away from the airport avenue to the hotel (an antique look with a touch of modernized elements) to restaurant (concrete bungalow building) then another entrance to the house of the owner and another entrance gate to the wide open space for events and occasion and to the swimming pool, there are also two tree houses that you can climb to. The place was estimated around 2.5 hectares as I can assessed.

As you walk along the hotel and resort, you can see lush tropical gardens camp on the well-manicured lawns, cement beautiful relationships at the cottage by the pool, appreciate the beauty of greenfields at the sentry like cottages built on century old trees and reflect on how greatly blessed you are.

The Garden.

Inside the hotel room, was comfy matching with air-conditioned, cabled television, and a comfort room but sad to say there was no hot shower, you have to take a bath with a cold blazing water directly to your body from the shower.

PAVILLION 

An all wood and bricks the venue is a strong statement of the Filipinos enduring colonial link. Colored glass panel doors that may be opened give grandeur and elegance to the place suitable for wedding receptions, anniversaries, debuts, conferences or meetings.

Offers well manicured lawns & garden. Listen to the chirping , the whistling and the love call of birds. Feast your eyes on verdant greens and colorful flowers. Marvel at the beauty of palms & topiaries. The garden is a perfect place to relax. Plants that abound the resort are therapeutic.

SWIMMING POOL

The cool waterfalls & fountains are a look alike to naturally falling waterfalls as one can sit or climb its walls, walk its basin & do water therapy. Treat yourself to a foot massage as you experience satisfaction under the tree-showers.

 
PARKING SPACE

Take pleasure in spending quality time with friends and relatives without fear of the security of your vehicle. The resort has wide parking areas where guests can with confidence leave their vans & cars.

 It is a walk away from the heart of the city and 10 minutes ride from the international airport. It is a hub to the different tourist’s attractions in Ilocos Norte and Laoag City. Major public utility buses such as Partas, Fariñas, Florida, Maria De Leon bound to Laoag City can reached to this place.
