Panagbenga - Baguio Flower Festival 2016

It’s that time of the year again when the flowers bloom and celebrate what we call the “Panagbenga” also known as the Baguio Flower Festival. The festival will more focus on living flowers than short-lived cut-flowers in its 21st edition to be held in February next year.

2016 Baguio Flower Festival theme “Bless the Children with Flowers,” aims to instill the preservation of nature for the benefit of future generations. The organizers announced a revising of guidelines for the much-awaited spectacle of the Flower Float Parade, to design a float with live potted plants and flowers rather than cut flowers, in a 50/50 combination of live potted plants and cut flowers and soon to be donated to the schools in Baguio, so as the children may appreciated and nurture the environment.

Panagbenga 2016 will draw local and foreign tourist in the city, especially with the completion of the Tarlac-Pangasinan-La Union Expressway next year. With travel time expected to be a mere 2.5 hours from Balintawak to Baguio City, Baguio can be easily become a weekend destination. 

In addition, the tourism department has embarked on a program called “Regreening and re-blooming Baguio,” to bring back the old beauty and glory of the nation’s summer capital.
