Panagbenga - Baguio Flower Festival 2015


November 17 marks the launched of Panagbenga 2015 in a simple and regular flag ceremony at the Baguio City Hall grounds followed by a press conference.

The Panagbenga 2015 will then stage the 20th year comes February, the Panagbenga or the Baguio Flower Festival is expected to have traditional activities; opening children’s’ parade on Feb. 1, market encounter, street dance parade and flower float parade on the third weekend, Session Road in Bloom, sports exhibition and competition, Pony Boys’ day, and a grand closing program with fireworks in various venues. 

Grand parades for Panagbenga 2015 slated on February 28 and March 1.

The 20th year’s theme, “Across 20 years Blossoming Together”, will convey the message that people of Baguio are flowers that Blossom, with more emphasis on greens and flowers.

One of the highlights of the launched was the unveiling the 20th year logo having 6 petals representing the Baguio-La Trinidad-Itogon-Sablan-Tuba-Tublay (BLISTT) areas.

In addition, Mayor Domogan said, the opening parade serves as elimination round for the drum and lyre and elementary streetdancing parade category. He also announced that there will be four street dance categories; elementary, high school, college and open category choreographed dancing to the tune of the Panagbenga Hymn, as patterned from the steps of the Ibaloi Bendian. 

Invitations for media coverage and photographers are enjoined to come up with a coffee book on the 20 years of Panagbenga.

Sufficient accommodations, provisions for parking and camping spaces must be given more thought for Panagbenga 2015. During the press conference, Panagbenga is more orderly, disciplined compared to other festivals in the Philippines without compromising fun. It has been observed more tourists and some locals have opted to set up tents and catch up with Baguio’s February chill.

I have been to Baguio before but I have not been to the Panagbenga Festival. I know that they're great but isn't there too many people? That is what I am afraid of.
