National Heroes Day (Araw ng mga Bayani) is celebrated during the last Monday of August to commemorate the “Cry of Pugad Lawin” by the Katipunan.

August 27 was declared as a Philippine Regular Holiday pursuant to Proclamation 295 cited RA No. 9492 dated July 24, 2007 that amended Section 26, Chapter, Book 1 of Executive Order No. 292, also known as the Administrative Code of 1987, which declares certain specific or movable as special or regular holidays. The details have been cited on the www.gov.ph, and thus, Labor and Employment Secretary Baldoz urged private sector employers to observe the proper pay rules for their workers.
