August 30 declared as Non-Working Holiday

I have posted Plan a Weekend trip for 2010 – Year of the Tiger provided by the Department of Tourism (DoT) which ex-PGMA declared that August 21, 2010 (Saturday) shall move to August 23, 2010 (Monday). But later this week, President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III drew flak for not declaring August 23 a holiday despite the Holiday Economics Law implemented by his predecessor, now Pampanga Representative Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.

The Palace then declared August 30 as non-working holiday.
National Heroes Day, celebrated yearly every last Monday of August, falls on August 30.

“August 30 is a holiday. It falls on a Monday, it’s not going to be moved,” said Presidential spokesman Edwin Lacierda.

Arroyo observed holiday economics through Republic Act 9492, which sought to drive domestic tourism. Under the said law, when a holiday falls on a Wednesday, it will be observed on Monday of the same week. But if the holiday falls on a weekend, it will be observed the following Monday.

So,you can plan for a trip on August 28 – 30, Saturday – Monday (August 30 – National Heroes Day). Happy Trip Everyone!!Enjoy!!
