Tsinelas Festival

City of Gapan, Nueva Ecija

When my brother bought a pair of slipper at San Fernando City, he then showed to me. Later that day, he went and ask me to borrow the camera for him to take a shot of his new slippers. I let him borrowed the cam and I was even beside him when he took the photo it was good. But then, something reminded me of that if Marikina City is the Shoe Capital of the Philippines how about the slipper is it possible that slipper can be the best product of one's place.

Then I have learned that Nueva Ecija particularly in City of Gapan celebrate the Tsinelas Festival and not only in Nueva Ecija of whom celebrating Tsinelas Festival even in Liliw, Laguna but they called it "Liliw Gat Tayaw Tsinelas Festival" in honor of the town's founder Gat Tayaw--was first held on April 5-7, 2002 in order to boost local tourism, and celebrated annually.

Back to Nueva Ecija, the City of Gapan also holds its annual Tsinelas Festival to mark the anniversary of its cityhood. It is celebrated with a parade of floats which are decorated with slippers of all shapes, colors and sizes. There’s also a lot of street dancing, strengthening its claim of being the North Slippers Capital of the Philippines. This 17-day annual event showcases its tsinelas industry, which generates about 500 to 600 million pesos every year.

Tsinelas Festival is celebrated on August 25.

There are no other places in the world that give more importance of slippers other the Republic of the Phillipines. So if you dont have a pair of slipper then go to your nearest department store or local market to get one and have the convenience of it.
