Ati-atihan Festival is a yearly feast to
celebrate Santo Niño in Kalibo, Aklan. It is often held in January, and comes
to an end on the third Sunday.
‘Ati-Atihan’ is translated to mean ‘to
mimic the Ati tribe’. Ati is a term that refers to the island’s early settlers.
At the core of the festival, visitors get to indulge in vigorous tribal dances,
ecstatic music and a host of native masks and weapons. The said festival is a
crowd drawer for both locals and tourists alike.
